Description
Mosaic art has a long history spanning 5,000 years; the earliest evidence of combining various materials to decorate surfaces dates back to the Sumerian period (3,000 BCE).
From pebble mosaics – utilitarian works designed to make floors clean and sturdy – this artistic technique has undergone many stages and transformations.
This has led to contemporary mosaics, which the Maison de la Mosaïque Contemporaine in Paray-Le-Monial has been dedicated to promoting for the past 25 years: an art form that offers creative artists unlimited possibilities for expression.
