What do we mean by ‘presence’? What does it mean to be present to oneself and to others? How do we experience, at every moment, our presence in the world and the fragility of our time on earth?
The Musée du Hiéron in Paray-le-Monial presents its new exhibition, ‘Saisies de la présence’. Through a unique immersive journey blending fine art, photography, archaeology and poetry, thirteen contemporary artists explore this question:
how can art convey the elusive?
The exhibition explores presence in all its forms — whether dazzling and vibrant, or, conversely, fragile, evanescent, or even already gone. The works on display examine the traces we leave in the wake of our days, but also that which leaves no visible mark: that minute, almost secret pulse that paves the way for the mystical.
This exhibition echoes and builds upon the eponymous symposium organised by Fanny Fouché at Paris-Cité University in 2024, which grew out of her doctoral research.
