Description

This museum bears the name of the man who founded the local tile plant in 1877. It serves as the living memory of a bustling period for the ceramic tiling industry long since defunct; the museum retraces the various stages of the life of the Paul Charnoz plant, through the technologies employed and the products manufactured (in particular, two prestigious works of art, symbols of the heyday of industrial and decorative ceramics towards the end of the 19th century and prize winners at both the 1889 and 1900 Paris World's Fairs). Don't leave without seeing the exhibit of unique lace-like fine brass meshes made using a cloisonné technique essential for producing tile inlay patterns, along with a hydraulic press (from the end of the 19th century).
